Reverse Waterfall

Everyone knows that waterfalls in a downward direction and it is the law of physics, but sometimes nature fooled us with magic. Naneghat is a place where everyone gets shocked seeing the waterfall travel in an upward direction.

Naneghat is located in the western ghat of Maharashtra which connects Pune to Konkan in ancient times. This route was a trade route for centuries. You will find some historic monuments at the top of the hill and old types of water tanks on the trek route. This route is easy to trek and even freshers trekkers can do it.

In the monsoon season, people from Mumbai, New Mumbai and Pune city travelled here to see the magnificent view of nature. The reverse waterfall is very famous on social media as well every trekker who came here posted the reverse waterfall images and videos on social media.

This waterfall is 750 meters above sea level and when water descent from the cliff the strong winds change the direction of the water and phenomena create, waterfalls travel in a backward direction.

Where is Naneghat

Naneghat is located in Junnar taluka, Pune. It is 124 km and from Mumbai, it is 164 km.

How to reach

From Pune, it is 4 hour of journey and it is a direct route to the Naneghat. Even you can directly take your vehicle at top of the hill.

From Mumbai is a 4 to 5 hours of journey. From Vaishakhare village the trekking starts and it is around 6 km trek. It can take 2 hours to reach the top of the hill.

The nearest railway station is Kalyan and it is 60 km.

Local transport is not good it’s better if you travel by your own vehicle or hire a private vehicle for your group. If you are coming by public transport then come to Kalyan and take the state transport bus which goes to Malshej ghat.

There are some parking charges as per the vehicle type and per person charge but the ticket counter is mostly open on Saturday and Sunday.

The best time to visit is June to September

Things to carry - Carry a first aid kit, Water bottle, some food to eat, warm clothes and wear trekking shoes.
