Dudhsagar Waterfall Goa
One of the most beautiful Waterfalls in India. Dudhsagar waterfall is the best place and most visited place in Goa . It is located in Sonaulim, Goa. This waterfall is one of the tallest waterfalls in India, the height of the Dudhsagar waterfall is around 310 m ( 1070 feet ) and the width of the fall is around 100 feet.
The waterfall is in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and it is covered with forest. It takes quite some time to see this beautiful waterfall with your naked eyes. The way of Mandovi river fell from this peak it’s known as the Dudhsagar Waterfall and further moved to meet the Arabian sea.
This place is dense and the beautiful forest and the way of the waterfall there is a railway track which connects Goa and Banglore state. If you are passing through this railway line then you will see this waterfall.
How to reach Dudhsagar Waterfall
There are 2 ways to reach near to waterfall one is Jungle Safari and the second is by trekking.
Jeep safari
If you want to go by Jungle sagari then you have to come to Kulem here you will see a government office where you can book a jeep which take you towards the waterfall. The charges for the jeep are fixed and there is no sharing, and it cost around 3500 rupees. If you are an individual then you have to pay the whole amount or if you are in a group then divide the same amount per person. There is also a 100 rs wildlife entry fee and 40 rs for life jacket charges, if you want to carry a camera then you have to pay more than 100 rs at the counter. you have limited time to enjoy
When you choose to go via jeep then you will get approximately 1 hour when they drop you near the waterfall. You will not see the full view of the waterfall from here because there is a cliff but the waterfall falls into the pond where you can swim and enjoy your journey. You will see lots of crowds choose this option cause it is not time-consuming and this is the easiest way to reach the waterfall.
Trekking at Dudhsagar Waterfall
If you are planning to trek this waterfall then have to come near the kulem railway station and keep walking on the railway track. This journey is around 10 km from the station and it would take around 3 to 4 hours to reach. Once you start your journey make sure you have a limited amount of snacks and water because you will not see anything near to you. If you are solo travelling avoid this route cause sometimes you may not see anybody nearby you and this railway track go from the national park and there is wild animal also. In the peak season, you can see a lot of groups which make their journey by this track.
If you have an older person avoid this route and you may also see the police who may stop you to visit the waterfall. This route would take at least 10 hours of the journey so make sure you start in the early morning. From this route, you don't have to pay anything to visit Dudhsagar waterfall.
Nearest railway station
Nearest railway station is Kulem which is around 10 km from the magnificent Dudhsagar Waterfall. Kulem is not a major railway station limited trains stop here. Karmali is a major railway station and it is 53 km from Kulem railway station.
Nearest airport
Dabolim, Goa Internation airport is the nearest and most convenient to reach Dudhsagar waterfall and it is 70 km.
Best season to visit Dudhsagar
Best season to visit Dudhsagar waterfall is from October to January. In the monsoon season, the water speed of the waterfall is tremendous so during this duration jungle safari is closed by the government but you can trek the waterfall from Kulem railway station.
